Webinar Series: Music Industry Talks with Alessia Priolo

This blog article is a transcription of a podcast interview published on The Music Business Show.

D. Blais

Hello my name is Dominique and I'm with Alessia Priolo today for www.themusicbusinessschool.com. How are you Alessia?

A. Priolo

I’m good, how are you?

D. Blais

Yes, I'm very good. It's too bad we can't actually meet and have this conversation face-to-face, right?... For obvious reasons! But today, you wanted to talk to me about this new concept which is Music Industry Talks. What is it?

A. Priolo

So, Music Industry Talks is a weekly webinar series that is going to be live streamed and the idea behind it is to basically invite both musicians and music business professionals, whether it's promoters or producers, artist managers and basically have a conversation on how they're working right now finding themselves in a situation where they can’t work together in the same room, so having to adapt their process as well as discuss what's going on in the industry right now and how it's affecting them.

D. Blais

So, you'll be talking to people coming from all genre of music?

A. Priolo

Right. It would be different genres of music, both locally and internationally.

D. Blais

Wow! When will the webinars happen?

A. Priolo

We're planning to have them weekly and we'll be posting more updates on the time and the dates on www.themusicbusinessschool.com, in the events section, so every week we'll have our webinars, our topics as well as those participants and the speakers that will be part of them.

D.Blais

It's going to be live, right? It's not like pre-recorded and broadcasted later? It's an actual live event?

A. Priolo

It's going to be a live event on Syncop8ed Noize Foundation (www.syncop8ednoize.org) webpage and actually a live stream is going to be on the Facebook page.

D. Blais

So, the people who’s going to attend, I'm not talking about the guests, but I mean if I go there and if I watch your actual webinar, will I be able to communicate with you and interact with your guests?

A. Priolo

Yes. So people can walk to my stream and they can also ask questions live which will be part of the conversation. It's going to be a discussion, so anyone can participate and join the webinar as well as ask questions live, so it's going to be very interactive. Some participating bands will be doing a little acoustic performances. We'd be playing a little bit of games to make it really fun and it's going to be like a really nice interactive discussion.

D. Blais

Amazing. How many webinars do you have in the pipeline already?

A. Priolo

Approximately four. There's been a lot of demand. It seems like it's a time when people really crave for having that interaction since we can't meet each other. It's really something that I'm seeing that is kind of lacking right now. There's the need for interaction to be there and build the community and be able to talk with each other, and I think it's really important to talk about what's going on right now and discuss different tips on how to deal with it and some bands wanted to share how they're dealing with the situation and how they're adapting. So, I think it's going to be really valuable for listeners and obviously industry people or musicians. They could get some really cool take away from that.

D. Blais

If I'm an industry professional or if I'm an artist and I want to be part of your webinar as a guest, how should I proceed?

A. Priolo

So, you would be able to send an email with your request to info@syncop8ednoize.org and send the name of the artist or the participant, and the kind of background, so we know exactly which part of the industry you're in.

D. Blais

Can you tell me a little bit about what your website is about www.syncop8ednoize.org?

So, what is that organization?

A. Priolo

Basically, we are a non-profit organization whose goal is to support independant musicians and help develop their career, promote them and kind of give them different platforms to showcase their music. We have yearly showcase, that's called Rockalypse. We also do different music workshops and now these added webinars. I really want to bring that community together and have constructive conversations. I think that's really important in a time like this.

D. Blais

Wow! it's very interesting. Hey, listen Alessia, I'll be watching your webinars for sure and I wish you best of luck with this project and all the other projects of course, but the webinar thing I think it's amazing and hopefully the whole music community will be around you for that.

A. Priolo

We hope so. Thank you for much.
