D. Blais: Who is Kyle Mathias?

K. Mathias: I'm a person who is passionate about learning and teaching the science behind audio and video technology. I am the creator of the online educational resource, Audio University

D. Blais: What school did you study in and in what field?

K. Mathias: I earned my bachelor's degree in Audio Production at Webster University in St. Louis, MO.

D. Blais: How did the idea of creating the Audio University come about and when did you start?

K. Mathias: I've always loved learning about technology and finding ways to simplify the technical concepts to help others understand. Also, I spent a lot of money paying for school and I wanted to provide a free online resource for those who want to learn university-level audio concepts without going into debt to learn them. So, I started Audio University in September of 2019.

D. Blais: How do you choose the topics to cover in your YouTube videos?

K. Mathias: I choose topics based on my belief that learning the basics is the best method for being successful in the audio industry. If you learn why and how things work, it will allow you to confidently react to the unpredictable situations that you'll encounter in this industry.

D. Blais: Who is your videos and website for?

K. Mathias: I hope Audio University reaches a variety of people: those who are enrolled in audio programs and want a study resource; those who are trying to teach themselves audio production online; and musicians or other creators who want to learn how to make professional-sounding recordings.

D. Blais: What is the question most often asked by your followers?

K. Mathias: The channel is so new that I haven't received many questions. I encourage people to use me as a resource, though. I'd be happy to help answer any questions about audio production science, technology, and techniques.

D. Blais: What is the biggest challenge you are facing with this project?

K. Mathias: The biggest challenge is balancing family, friends, career, and Audio University. I try to take it day by day and dedicate myself to at least an hour of quality work toward Audio University each day.

D. Blais: What is your ultimate goal with Audio University?

K. Mathias: My goal is that Audio University will help others achieve their goals. I am passionate about teaching and feeling like I provide value in the lives of others.

Whether audio is your career, your side-hustle, or a part of a larger project, I hope that the things I am putting out there will be helpful to you. (Kyle Mathias, Audio University)
