There are many sample tracks to choose from as well as various instruments to play around with. There’s always something new to learn in LMMS.


orDrumbox is supported on Mac, Windows and Linux. It’s mainly a drum machine but has some other fancy features to make creating music fast, fun and effortless. The software has a lot of automatic features including automatic sounds, track matching and auto-composition. It can also compose bass lines and melodic patterns automatically as well as complete songs for you. These are great tools when it comes to experimentation. orDrumbox isn’t all automatic though. It has a sound database that you can browse through and synths to add to them.

Tracktion T7

Tracktion T7 is supported on Mac, Windows and Linux. It offers older versions of the software for free and users can upgrade for a price if they want the newest version. Tracktion T7 is not the best software for beginners although it’s still simple to use if you know what you’re doing.
